Landscape Illumination

For the last month I’ve been working with Darrin Selking from Landscape Illumination — a landscape lighting firm based in Valparaiso, Indiana – to develop a new WordPress-based dynamic website for them.

The site has turned out great. Darrin and his team do beautiful work in landscape lighting all over the country, and early on we decided that their work needed to be the center of the site. On every page on the site, you’ll see images and videos of their awesome work.

This was one of our biggest projects last year, and we’re quite proud of it. This project came from a referral from a happy client. O’Meara is an accounting firm for Catholic churches and their website — built in 1998 — needed to be modernized.

American Brake and Muffler — Griffith, Indiana

This is another website we did last fall. I was approached by the owner of American Brake and Muffler in Griffith, Indiana to develop a new web presence for them and create similar websites for 3 other auto shops in the area. They’re all a variation of this one.

The site needed to be simple. It needed to be easy for people to find out where they were located, what types of services they offered, and a quick way to get in touch via a contact form. They also own several other auto shops, so they wanted to duplicate the site with various changes between all of them.

Most of this is achieved on the homepage. It was also important for people to be able to find the company via Google and other search engines, so SEO was important as well.

Overall it was a great project and the client was very happy with the results. They eventually came back with another website.

New Client Site Live: Welcome Home NWI

A friend came to me with an interesting project a few months ago. James K. Barath (Twitter: myCMPS) wanted me to transfer his content from a free blogging service to a self hosted blog and then turn it into a fully featured real estate website for Northwest Indiana.

The overall goal of the site was to make it so that if you search for ‘home values valparaiso’ or ‘mortgage chesterton’ that somewhere in the top 10 will be Welcome Home NWI – since the site is still new that hasn’t happened yet, but it will soon.

The key feature of the site is real time real estate data for several communities in Northwest Indiana from Altos Research. The graphs and real time data is dynamically generated every time the page is loaded.

The site is built upon WordPress. We’re using it as a basic content management system and also as a blog. We heavily modified the Studiopress Agent theme in order to fit it into what we’re doing.

Several things the site needed: customized contact forms to generate leads, social media integration since James is a prolific tweeter and SEO to target our geographic area.

The result, we think, is stunning. For the first time, Northwest Indiana now has a website completely dedicated to real estate data and home searching.
